This mix starts of with some minimal flavor. Slowly working its way into some tech house and house music.

Mixed using 3 and 4 decks in Traktor Scratch Pro

As of late, some of the trance coming out has caught my liking again. The tracks are few and far between and i had a total of about 25 trance to put this mix together with, but im very pleased with what i have done.

Seeing as trance being where i started i thought Full Circle seemed like the perfect name for this mix.

MEME (pronounced ‘meem’) is a multi-day music and digital arts festival featuring live indoor and outdoor electronic music performances. MEME also features educational clinics and workshops, digital visual artists, and new media installations. MEME is a non-proft event fueled by enthusiasm, volunteerism and community support.

From June 17th-20th, MEME is proud to present daytime and evening concerts and live performances throughout Winnipeg. We expect about 60 artists from 4 countries to participate in the festival this year, with a strong representation from Manitoba. MEME is the first event of its kind in western Canada, seeding a path of creativity, experimentation, and innovation.

I just skimmed through all the mix points and i am pretty impressed with what i heard so far. Its soo often you record a mix and everything feels good, but its not the same when you listen to it after, but i think i have this one nailed!

To start things off,

Easy setup in OS X. Class compliant drivers are always nice.

Was a little difficult to figure out how to get the LEDs on the controller to respond to traktors midi messages, but carefully reading the manual was all it took.

Audio quality isnt as clean as the soundcard in the Xone 4D that i typically use, but its decent enough for live use. I wish this thing was bus powered, but i guess the draw of the audio device coupled with the midi would be too much strain on some USB ports. Headphone preamp is kind of weak as well, but then again this controller/audio device is under $300.

To sum it up, you get what you pay for (in most cases). But with all these features, id expect a more expensive price tag. Not that i’m complaining. I’d seriously consider picking one of these up to have a more portable setup that is 1/10 the price of what the Xone 4d costs.
